The BTS, or behind the scenes, links are just that, a look at how I've setup and shot various shoots. The bulk of these videos, at least for the time being, involve the work I shoot for the university. Although many photographers are interested in bridal session and other portrait shoots, I've found that filming these sessions can occasionally present additional challenges with regard to equipment and personnel as well as client privacy. Typically the clients I work with are fun and laid back, so getting used to camera gear and lighting equipment isn't really a challenge. When you add a videographer and stop to discuss what you're doing, it can inhibit the flow of the shoot as well as the shooter's focus. So, for at least the time being, wedding and portrait BTS clips are on the back burner.
Many of the requests I get from friends, students and even fellow shooters most often pertains to my composite work for the university. These projects, by their design, require the shooting of individual subjects, either in studio or on location, separately from virtually all other content in the final piece. I often shoot individuals, props and backgrounds separately - or acquire these elements through stock agencies. Most of the requests I get are about the setup, shooting and compositing involve in creating the final image. I haven't shot as many of these videos as I'd like, so I'm planning on trying to add more in the near future. In the mean time you can view the older ones I have archived here or click on the
blog link at the top of the page to find some additional materials on these projects.
The Class links are geared for students only. I load some of the video clips of students in action in the studio toward the end of each semester so they can refer back to them later or view them if they happened to miss the class session. These are simply brief discussions about a particular lighting setup used along with some footage of the students working with that setup. There are a few images by the students at the end of each video. Again, these are for student reference only, but you feel free to watch them if you are curious or, well, bored. NOTE: The class links only become active when a
current class is conducting studio sessions.
The links at the top of the page under the video heading and the links to the right will take you to the same destination.
